Ato-Kwamena Dadzie is a veteran Ghanaian journalist, editor, and media consultant with over two decades of experience across radio, television, print, and digital platforms. Known for his incisive editorial judgment and fearless journalism, Ato has held senior editorial roles in some of Ghana’s most influential newsrooms, including Joy FM, GhanaWeb, MyJoyOnline, and Metro TV.
He served as Editor-in-Chief of GhanaWeb between 2016 and 2019, where he helped reposition the platform as a credible digital news source, expanding its audience and strengthening its editorial quality. As Senior News Editor at Multimedia Group, he played a key role in shaping the editorial direction of Joy FM’s flagship news programming. His career has also included reporting for international outlets such as Agence France-Presse and German Public Radio.
Beyond the newsroom, Ato has provided media training, digital content strategy, and communications consulting to a range of organisations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he volunteered as Communications Manager for the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund, earning a Presidential Honour for Distinguished Service for his work.
Ato holds a Master of Journalism from Carleton University in Canada, where he was a recipient of multiple academic fellowships, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London. He is currently a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, and Director of New Narratives Ghana, a media development initiative. His 2010 book, Pretending to be President, is a satirical take on Ghanaian politics and governance.
